I am happy to announce that our 2012 USA Yoga National Championship will be held in New York at the historic Hudson Theatre on March 3rd and 4th. The New York regional will take place on March 2nd at the same venue.

I spent a wonderful month in India where I realized one of my lifelong dreams of meeting with B. K. S. Iyengar. We spoke about many things including yoga conpetition. His words were both inspiring and wise. He said that the most important element for success is to bring all the traditions together.

Thank you to all of the regional hosts and all of the athletes, coaches and judges that have participated so far in the regionals. Please see the results on our Results page.

We have one regional this month, the Texas Regional Yoga Asana Championship, and several more in January. For details go to our Event Calendar.

A very special thank you and quick check-in with our current champions Afton Carraway and Joseph Encinia:

Afton Carraway

This has truly been a magnificent year for me in my yoga world.  I've gotten to meet so many wonderful studio owners and practice with a number of students and teachers who share the same love for the yoga as I do.  One of the coolest thing is that, even after placing 1st at Nationals in March, my practice keeps evolving and opening in new directions, which gives me a fresh perspective and passion for teaching every day.  I can't wait to see what next year has to offer me as a student, a teacher, and a competitor of yoga.

 Joseph Encinia

This last few months of travels have been so memorable! There is nothing better than being able visit the Yoga family worldwide and share so much love. I've learned in meeting many of you that Champions do not become champions when they win an event, but in the hours, weeks, months, and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their champion character. Many of you are true Champions in your own right and it's been a blessing to be a part of your journey this year.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our members for supporting us throughout the year.

Happy Hollidays and a Peaceful New Year!

Love & Peace,

Rajashree
