Lucy Homiller - Board Member

Lucy Homiller has enjoyed three different careers before the age of 40.  She began the first at age 17, dancing professionally with the Nashville Ballet.  The second began three years later, when she left the ballet to return to school in her home state of Virginia.  After graduating from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 2001 and from the University of Virginia law school in 2004, she moved to Richmond to practice corporate litigation at a large, international firm and then shifted to a smaller firm to focus on family law.  After the birth of her second child, she began her third career: staying home as a full-time mother.   It took some time for Lucy to find her way to yoga.  After leaving the ballet, she took up running and competed in several marathons, half-marathons and other distance races.  More than 12 years of running was taking its toll on her knees, however, and her doctor suggested that she try a yoga class.  In August of 2012, she took her first Bikram class at Bikram Yoga Richmond and fell in love with it.  A little more than a year later, she began competing in the USA Yoga Regional and National championships.  In addition to her regular attendance at Bikram Yoga Richmond, Lucy participates in community outreach yoga programs, performing demonstrations at public events and teaching yoga classes in the local public schools.  Yoga has not only saved her knees, but transformed her view of the importance of both physical and mental fitness.  As a member of the Board, Lucy is eager to help advance the mission of USA Yoga and share her love of yoga with the world.
